About
My name is Alejandro Rodríguez Sánchez, and I am a Madrid-based physicist and meteorologist. At the moment I am writing these lines (April 2025), I spend most of my time finishing mi PhD Thesis on evaluation and development of strategies devoted to reduce the negative impacts of air pollution in urban areas.
I was born in Málaga (Spain) in 1997, and I have been lucky enough to grow up in Campillos (Málaga province, Spain). There, I found out my passion for nature and research.
This blog, which I started with my father and sister back then in 2008 was first a diary where we wrote our adventures and adquired knowledge around the natural environment of Campillos. After several years without posting, in 2023 I recovered this blog with a renovated image and the intention of posting my scientific discoveries, as well as my adventures and thoughts around wherever the life takes me.
Please be welcomed to my blog, and I hope you can enjoy at least as much as I enjoy working and posting in it!
Below these lines you can find a brief resumé with the highlights of my academical life. In addition, you can check on my published scientific works following this link.
Brief Curriculum Vitae
2020-present | PhD in Physics
Universidad Complutense de Madrid
In my PhD, I am developing a methodology to compute traffic-related pollutant emissions in urban areas at very high resolution (O(1m)) in order to design and evaluate mitigation strategies. With the help of different modeling tools (WRF, CHIMERE, CFD models, High Performance Computers, ...), I estimate the impact of different mitigation measures in urban areas, as well as the effect of different meteorological conditions on the effectiveness of these measures.
Thesis: Simulation of heat waves in Madrid
Thesis: Implementation of a numerical modeling code for the analysis of basic meteorological systems
